INSTITUTE FOR FISHERIES RESOURCES GIS TECHNICAL WORK GROUP -- GIS METADATA LIBRARY: North Bay COVERAGE NAME: simpson_fish_pts.shp METADATA FILE: simpson_fish_pts.txt METADATA FILE DATE: March 28, 2003 METADATA PREPARER: Eli Asarian Institute for Fisheries Resources (IFR) 791 Eighth Street Ste. N Arcata, CA 95521 (707) 822-9428 COVERAGE DESCRIPTION: This shapefile contains one points, the approximate location of Nick Simpson's fish surveys in Miller Creek in August 20002. He dove 6 adjacent pool during a fish behavior student project study at Humboldt State University. Methods: features were created in ArcView by using the "add point" tool to create a point feature by plotting it on top of the aerial infrared photograph file titled "Cd9947o.jpg" from the San Francisco Estuary Insitute's EcoAtlas. Nick Simpson examined the aerial infrared photograph, and then directed me (Eli Asarian) where to put place the point in ArcView. VITAL STATISTICS: Datum: NAD 27 Projection: UTM Units: Meters 1st Std. Parallel: 34 00 00 (34.0 degrees N) 2nd Std. Parallel: 40 30 00 (40.5 degrees N) Longitude of Origin: -120 00 00 (120.0 degrees W) Latitude of Origin: 00 00 00 (0.0 degrees) False Easting (X shift): 0 False Northing (Y shift): 0 Source: see notes above Data Structure: Vector (point) DATA DICTIONARY: - no description because the attribute table does not contain information, this layer is spatial only. DATA QUALITY ASSESSMENT: The accuracy of this layer depends on two things. First, the accuracy of the aerial IR photograph. Second, the accuracy of Nick Simpson's memory and ability to read aerial photographs. The point is probably accurate to within 100 m, almost certainly accurate to within 300 meters.
