Area Lagunitas Creek
Topic Fish: Stocking in Lagunitas Creek 1958-1987

Caption:  This chart shows the number of hatchery raised coho salmon and steelhead trout released into mainstem Lagunitas Creek during the years 1958-1987. These numbers do not include salmonids that were strictly known to have been released into tributary Nicasio Creek, but does include numbers with the stream location label of Lagunitas-Nicasio Creek. If more recent releases occurred, this information was not available. At least 40,000 coho salmon were stocked in Lagunitas Creek each year from 1973 to 1977, most of non-native origin. Steelhead were stocked as often as coho salmon but in smaller numbers. Coho salmon placed in Lagunitas Creek came from 9 different hatcheries but plants since 1987 have involved a small number of native coho from a small scale hatchery program. Data were provided by the California Department of Fish and Game. See the Source Table for data on size at release and hatchery origin. See Info Links for more information.
