KRIS West Marin-Sonoma: Meta Information Page

This page contains detailed information about a data set in KRIS, including where the original data reside and how to contact the sources for the data. Data sets are linked to the appropriate page by means of the Meta Identifier. Many data sets can be linked to same page by sharing the same Meta Identifier.

DescriptionAverage monthly rainfall data were determined using rainfall records from Sonoma County Water Agency gaging stations (Erikson, Gerritson, and Two Rock). In addition, a water balance analysis using monthly time steps was conducted to estimate stream flow for dry, average, and wet rainfall years for Americano Creek at Valley Ford and Stemple Creek at Highway One.

PurposeThe City of Santa Rosa and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers commissioned a series of studies to examine areas for potential places where wastewater could be disbursed, including waterbodies outside the Russian River basin. Data were collected in Americano and Stemple Creeks to analyze existing hydrology and assess the potential changes in hydrology associated with imported/reclaimed irrigation water.
Data Quality InformationResults of the water balance model were checked against spot streamflow measurements from several stream locations in mid-June 1995, as well as a regression model produced for a local watershed.
Use ConstraintsPeak discharges associated with large storm events are not addressed by the water balance. Note that estimates do not take into account diversion of water for agricultural use and therefore may be higher then actual values
