| Caption: Water quality parameters have been measured in an on-going program by the California Department of Fish and Game in various watersheds in Marin and Sonoma counties from 1991-2002. The graph shows the yearly minimum, average and maximum dissolved oxygen measurements in Stemple Creek from 1990-2001. The reference values represent the minimum North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board (NCRWQCB) Stemple Creek TMDL thresholds to be met by 2004 at a specific saline (5.0 mg/L) and freshwater (6.0 mg/L) location in the watershed (Salisbury, 1997). In addition, a target of 7.0 mg/L must be met in the creek and estuary wherever and whenever the aquatic habitat is suitable for salmonid migration, rearing, and spawning and 9.0 mg/L during critical spawning and egg incubation periods, which is defined as applicable when and where anadromous fish redds are located. Extreme fluctuations from near zero to supersaturated levels suggest photosynthetic activity. See Map for monitoring locations and Info Links for more information. | |
