KRIS West Marin-Sonoma: Chart Page

Area S Marin/Redwood Creek
Topic Habitat: Redwood Creek Pool Depth Residual Mean 1995

Caption:  Residual pool depth (maximum depth minus depth at outflow) was measured for a sample of pools in six reaches along mainstem Redwood Creek and one reach in tributary, Fern Creek, in the summer of 1995 by the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GOGA). This chart shows the average values from those measurements. GOGA notes that pools greater than 0.5 meters generally represent higher value to juvenile salmonids (considering other factors to be equal). These data show that only the uppermost reach of Redwood Creek is comprised of pools that, as an average, meet that benchmark.
