KRIS West Marin-Sonoma: Chart Page

Area S Marin/Redwood Creek
Topic Habitat: Redwood Creek Riparian Canopy 1995

Caption:  Riparian canopy density was measured in six reaches along Redwood Creek in the summer of 1995 by the Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GOGA). Fern Creek was not sampled. GOGA states that the measurements above represent heavy shading. Pacific Way-Hwy 1 and Banducci had the greatest amount of shading with little variation (see Chart Table for coefficient of variation), while Big Lagoon-Pacific Way had the lowest amount of shading with the highest variability. GOGA notes this variability is represented by unshaded areas at the lagoon and main channel pool by Muir Beach parking lot and willow riparian areas which provide heavy shading.
