Topic WQ: Periphyton (Algae) Distribution in Redwood Creek at Station 2 1994

Caption:  The distribution of periphyton genera were sampled at Station #2 in Redwood Creek on February 9, 1994 by the University of San Francisco for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The top four genera in relative abundance are Navicula, Cocconeis, Audouinella, and Synedra. The first three genera are associated with clean water, while Synedra can affect the taste and odor of a stream when abundant (Palmer, 1977). See Picture for a map of the sampling station.
