Area Blue Waterhole Creek
Topic Temperature: FWA at Blue Waterhole Creek Site 2, 1993-2001
Caption:  This chart shows the floating weekly average temperature of Blue Waterhole Creek at FROG's Site #2, near the middle of the basin. The coolest years were 1999, 2001 and 1994 while warmer years were 1996, 1995 and 1997. Maximum floating weekly average temperature exceeded 17.0C in all years, and exceeded 19.0C in four of nine years. Based on a review of steelhead growth studies, Sullivan et al. (2000) found that compared to optimum temperatures, an MWAT of 17.0C reduced steelhead growth by 10%, and an MWAT of 19.0C reduced growth by 20%. Data contributed by the Friends of the Garcia River.
