This photo shows a view of the Garcia Mill, which was located approximately seven miles from the mouth. The "Garcia House" just shows beyond mill roof. The mill was located at the Buckridge (Ranch) property. Photo taken circa 1890. This is yet another shot of the old Garcia Mill built in 1869 - 1870 and burned in 1894. The old mill had an output of 8 Million feet of lumber per year, which was all flumed to Rollerville, about 7 miles down the Garcia River and to the west. The river was dammed here to intercept logs floated downstream to the mill. Photo taken in 1891. This picture shows the downriver side of the Garcia River Mill Dam, which would have presented a major impediment to fish passage. Note the flume on the extreme right. The ties were attached three together and floated in the flume to Rollerville. Note that trees on the hillslope above the mill pond are early seral stage. This picture shows the Garcia Mill Pond at Buckridge looking across the pond at men sorting planks with long, sharp poles. The planks (or ties) were bundled together and shunted down the flume below the dam on the far side. Early in 1893 over 5,000 ties were sent down the 6 to 7 mile flume in one day. Note inner gorge landslide on far bank. Photo circa 1898. Photo provided courtesy of the Held-Poage Memorial Home, Ukiah, California, and Robert Lee collection. Published by L. Howe, Pt. Arena. #03638 Moungovan. Halliday Collection.

This picture shows a log dump likely on the Garcia River at an unknown location. Logs were likely dragged to the river from upslope areas with oxen then rolled into the river for the float downstream to the mill. Photo provided courtesy of the Held-Poage Memorial Home and Mendocino Historical Society, Ukiah, California, from the Robert Lee Collection, #03920, Wilson.

This picture was entitled only "The Landing" and was taken in 1888. It shows three men who appear to be capturing floating logs from the Garcia River. They were likely collecting the logs for transport on the horse-drawn tramway in background. Photo provided courtesy of the Held-Poage Memorial Home and Mendocino Historical Society, Ukiah, California, from the Robert Lee Collection, #04252 P. A. Lighthouse Keepers. Probably W. W. Fairbanks photo.
