KRIS Garcia River: Chart Page

Area Inman Creek
Topic Temperature: FWA, Inman Creek Sites, 1998

Caption:  This chart shows floating weekly average temperature of four sites (5218, 5227, 5237, 5206) in the Inman Creek watershed for the year 1998. Inman Creek warmed 2.5-3.5°C as it flowed approximately 6 kilometers between the upper and lower sites. Floating weekly average temperatures exceeded 16.8°C at all four sites, indicating that the stream is too warm to be suitable for coho salmon rearing. Welsh et al. (2001) found that coho are not likely to persist where maximum floating weekly average temperature (MWAT) exceeds 16.8°C. It also exceeded levels known to impair steelhead growth (Sullivan et al., 2000). See InfoLinks for more information. Data provided by the Institute for Forest and Watershed Management.
