Caption:  This chart shows the length of the juvenile steelhead in electrofishing samples collected by Kimsey (CDFG, 1953) in the Garcia River at Station 1, approximately 100 yards above the Highway 1 Bridge, on August 13, 1952. Fish ranged in length from two inches (50 mm) to just over seven inches (175 mm), with older age steelhead well represented in the samples. Yearling steelhead are generally those between four and six inches (100 mm-150 mm). Young of the year steelhead, which are less than four inches long, are in colored blue on the chart above, with yearlings in light green. The dark green signifies two year old steelhead (6-8 inches/150 mm - 200 mm). Kimsey considered steelhead over eight inches to be resident trout.
