This raw bank is on the south side of the Garcia River at the top of the Henry Stornetta Ranch just below Windy Hollow Road. Note the invasive, non-native ivy growing near the top of the bank. The following pictures show armoring of this bank with whole trees, willow sprigs and alder planting and another successful example of "bio-engineering". Photo provided courtesy of Craig Bell.

This large alder was felled on site to provide bank armoring after willow sprigs and alder starts had been planted. The large wood was partially buried or keyed into the bank. Note the ivy in the mature riparian tree. This species continues to the threaten riparian restoration success at this site. Photo provided courtesy of Craig Bell.
