This table lists all identified Humboldt Bay datasets and notes whether or not they have been integrated into KRIS Humboldt Bay V1.0 (see Status column). The table includes photographic sets, but not GIS or documents, unless they contain data that will be charted.

CSRG streambed morphology and riparian vegetation Coastal Stream Restoration Group has conducted surveys of streambed morphology and riparian vegetation in Freshwater Creek. DFG_Habitat Habitat typing Habitat typing data. Survey protocol follows the California Salmonid Stream Habitat Restoration Manual. CDFG has collected additional data (2002 and the second half of 2001) that were not included in this dataset. Humboldt Bay Tributaries California Department of Fish and Game Complete. FCadtrap Counts of coho salmon, chinook salmon, steelhead and adult chum salmon Raw data on salmon counted at Freshwater spawner trap at Three Corners. Freshwater Humboldt Fish Action Council Data for 1978-2001 included in KRIS. Recent data from CDFG/IRE not made available in tabular form, but annual reports contain summary data.
FCoutmig Juvenile salmonids are counted by age class. Other fish and amphibian species are also counted. Downstream migrant trap results from Freshwater Creek and tributary locations with salmonid juveniles broken down by age classes. Freshwater CDFG Complete.

HB_Roads Road data for all Humboldt Bay Calwater Planning Watersheds This is road data assimilated and disseminated by Legacy the Landscape Connection in Arcata, California. HFAC_RCL Counts of redds, live fish and carcasses of coho salmon, chinook salmon, and steelhead Raw data on live fish, redds and carcasses of coho and chinook salmon and steelhead in Freshwater Creek from 1986-89 and 1994-1998. More recent data available in part in CDFG reports on adult salmon and steelhead population escapement estimation (Ricker 2002, 2003, 2005). Klein Turbidity Threshold Sampling (stage, discharge, turbidity, suspended sediment) Randy Klein Consulting conducted turbidity threshold sampling (TTS) sampling in lower Jacoby Creek for hydrologic years 2003-2005. Data include stage (water height), discharge (stream flow), turbidity, and suspended sediment. In 2003, the monitoring station was located above South Quarry Road Bridge (site JTG) and then was relocated to Brookwood Bridge (site JBW) for 2004 and 2005. Jacoby Creek Randy Klein, Hydrologist Data for all years (2003-2005) are included in KRIS, but data include only automated sensor data. Lab results and Individual stage-discharge measurements were not obtained, but annual sediment estimates were provided.
NCRWQCB   The North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board has collected data on Benthic Macroinvertebrates, Bulk Sediment, Fine Sediment to Pool Volume Ratio, Particle Size Distribution, Permeability of Spawning Gravels, Photo Monitoring, Stream Cross-Sectional Profiles, Photo Monitoring, Stream Cross-Sectional Profiles. Streams monitored include Elk River - Mainstem, Elk River - North Fork, Elk River - South Fork, and Freshwater Creek.   Regional Water Quality Control Board - Adona Skipped.
PL   The PALCO has monitors streams on its land. Parameters include benthic macroinvertebrates, Fish assemblages, Particle Size Distribution, Riparian vegetation, Streambed morphology, Streambed substrate assessments.   PALCO - Darby Skipped.
PL_TTS Turbidity Threshold Sampling (stage, discharge, turbidity, suspended sediment) PALCO conducts turbidity threshold sampling (tts) sampling at many stations in Freshwater Creek and Elk River. Data include stage (water height), discharge (stream flow), turbidity, and suspended sediment. Freshwater Creek, Elk River PALCO Turbidity, discharge, and sediment load data for hydro years 2003-2004 have been included in KRIS, but not sediment lab data and Individual stage-discharge measurements. 2005 data have not been released.
RSL_Eads Turbidity Threshold Sampling (stage, discharge, turbidity, suspended sediment) Redwood Sciences Lab conducted turbidity threshold sampling (tts) sampling at a station in upper Jacoby Creek (site UJC) for hydrologic years 2001-2005. Data include stage (water height), discharge (stream flow), turbidity, and suspended sediment. RSL_Harvey   Redwood Sciences Lab monitors Fish assemblages, Particle Size Distribution, Permeability of Spawning Gravels, Streambed Substrate Assessments, and Flow (discharge) in Jacoby Creek Jacoby Creek Redwood Sciences Lab - Harvey Skipped.
SF Turbidity Threshold Sampling (stage, discharge, turbidity, suspended sediment, rainfall) Salmon Forever's Watershed Watch program conducts Turbidity Threshold Sampling at four sites in Elk River and Freshwater Creek. Datasets include stage, discharge, turbidity, suspended sediment, and rainfall. The sites are North Fork Elk River (site KRW) approximately 1 mile above its confluence with South Fork Elk River, South Fork Elk River (site SFM) approximately 0.5 miles above its confluence with North Fork Elk River, lower Freshwater Creek (site HHB) at Howard Heights Bridge, and middle Freshwater Creek (site FTR) just upstream of Graham Gulch. Sampling began in hydrologic year 1999 at the FTR site. Elk River, Freshwater Creek Salmon Forever Data for hydrologic year 2005 are included so far KRIS (not 1999-2004), including automated probe data and lab samples. Individual stage-discharge measurements were not obtained. Data from hydrologic years 1999 and 2000 are available on Salmon Forever's website.

sediment Fine sediment data from shovel samples, McNeils and Freeze Cores Much of the fine sediment data in KRIS Humboldt Bay comes from the PL Habitat Conservation Plan where data are presented in Appendix 5 and methods briefly cited in Chapter 3. Data on fine sediment are also included from Barnard (1992), an HSU M.S. Thesis that measured fine sediment in Freshwater Creek using freeze core sampling.
