DESCRIPTION:

A 1:100,000 scale stream layer (CDF) was overlayed with a road layer from Lassen National Forest (probably intermediate between 1:24,000 and 1:100,000 scale) in ArcEdit.  Prior to the overlay, all nodes in the stream coverage were flagged.  Then after the overlay, all of the points where roads crossed streams were marked as new nodes.  The roads layer was then removed and a new point data set was created out of the new set of stream node data.  Data were then intersected with a Calwater Watershed layer to assign points to a given watershed.
