Topic Sediment: Pine Creek Coho Expected Emergence, 1992-1993
Caption:  The Hoopa Tribal Fisheries Department collected fine sediment data at 16 sites in the Pine Creek watershed in 1992 and 1993. The Chart above shows the projected percent survival and emergence of coho salmon using calculations based on particle size distribution derived by Lotspeich and Everest. Coho are less affected by fines than Chinook salmon because their head is slightly smaller which allows greater ability to emerge through diminished interstitial spaces.
