Topic Temperature: Monthly Average Maximum @ Five Trinity Sites 1994

Caption:  This chart shows the average maximum monthly water temperature at five sites on the Trinity River in 1994. The temperature of the Trinity River at Lewiston is cool throughout the summer because the water is drawn from deep down in the cold water layers of the reservoir above. The river remains optimal for salmonids at Steel Bridge and is still highly favorable for steelhead rearing above the North Fork. Temperatures at Burnt Ranch reach stressful and those at Weitchpec approached lethal in July of 1994 (Sullivan et al., 2000). Data provided by USFWS, Arcata. See Info Links for more information.
