Riparian planting technique at Faye Lane using a backhoe to excavate a hole or trench where willow and cottonwood cuttings or starts are buried. This technique has very high survival and the roots of the trees greatly enhance bank stability. Photo provided by the Siskiyou RCD.

High water from December 31, 1996 looking upstream at the Faye Lane Bridge in the Scott Valley. A large cottonwood tree washed away at this site but some elements of bank stabilization project remained intact (see the next Tour for after January 1997 Flood).
