Topic Temperature: Floating Weekly Average Powell Cr 1991-1992

Caption:  The floating weekly average water temperature of Powell Creek is shown above for the years 1991-1992. Water temperatures in Powell Creek were optimal for salmonids throughout the summer in both years despite very low flows in both these years. The maximum weekly average temperature (MWAT) did not exceed the threshold for suitability for coho salmon according to Welsh et al. (2001), although there is no record of coho spawning above Hyampom in the South Fork. Similar temperature thresholds have not been confirmed for coho in the Klamath Basin or for other salmonid species; therefore, the threshold is shown only for reference. Data provided by Shasta Trinity National Forest but was trimmed for outliers by the Forest Science Project (now known as the Institute for Forest and Watershed Management).
