Topic	Sediment: Matthews Estimated Transport vs. Harbor Dredging 1955-1995

 

Caption:  The total amount of sediment transported by the Noyo River was calculated by Matthews (1999) from regional sediment transport data. The basis for transport estimates were the Russian and Eel Rivers, not the Noyo River. The chart above shows estimated transport compared with the amount of sediment dredged from the Noyo Harbor. Matthews estimated that 80% of sediment transported by the river was deposited in the estuary and 20% passed through into the ocean.
