Click on image to enlarge (144K).This photo of the lower Noyo River was taken from the Georgia Pacific access road. The stream gradient in this reach is very low. Hardwoods such as willow and alder border the stream with Redwood in upslope areas.
Click on image to enlarge (143K).Lower Noyo River just upstream of the intake for the city of Ft Bragg water supply. The riparian vegetation includes redwoods, hardwoods and pampas grass. The latter is a non-native, invasive species that typically colonizes disturbed areas. Pampas grass shows up as grass in Landsat vegetation and timber type images.
