KRIS Redwood Creek: Chart Page

Area General
Topic Sediment: Suspended Sediment Prairie Creek WY1991-2001

Caption:  This chart displays suspended sediment concentration (mg/L) verse unit discharge (cfs/mi^2) for monitoring stations in Prairie Creek for the water years 1991 to 2001. Unit discharge is a measure of discharge per basin area, standardizing discharge measurements and allowing the comparison of basins with different areas. The Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans (2000) reported that coho cease feeding when suspended sediment concentrations exceed 300 mg/L. Concentrations have exceeded this value at all sites and are most frequent at the Prairie Creek above May Creek site. These data are from Redwood National Park. See Info Links for more Information.
