The image above comes from a post card with a August 1934 cancellation mark but the photo was likely taken at a much earlier time. The exact location of the photo is also unknown. This photo was taken circa 1883-84 in the Ten Mile Lumber Company woods at the Stewart and Hunter Mill pond. The location is actually on lower Mill Creek up the Ten Mile and shows a good view of a tram way view of mules and a tram way which increased the load that the mules could haul. This photo shows a railroad landing and camp on the Ten Mile River probably before 1890. The donkey shown in the picture at left is purported to be the first donkey engine used in the Ten Mile basin. The building at right with the cheese cloth windows was the filing shed. At lower right, with his hand on his hip is Matthew Tahja who was the head saw filer.
