Californians passed the Water Security, Clean Drinking Water, Coastal and Beach Protection Act as Proposition 50 in 2002. The purpose of Prop 50 is to:
Regional planning to help northwestern California qualify for Prop 50 Chapter 8 funding has been lead by the Sonoma County Water Agency. The North Coast Integrated Regional Water Management Plan (IRWMP) area is equivalent to the North Coast Region of the State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB). Over 70% of this North Coast region (see map) has a database suitable for implementation of Prop 50 - the Klamath Resource Information System (KRIS). Major government sponosors of North Coast Region KRIS projects are:

| The Klamath Resource Information System (KRIS) pulls together maps, data tables, charts, photographs and bibliographic resources into an easy-to-use, PC-based computer program. For any designated watershed, KRIS organizes information relevant to water quality, water supply and fisheries so that it can be shared quickly and easily among agencies, Tribes, private landowners and interested citizens. KRIS provides a "one stop shop" for data and reports that the public and busy resource managers would otherwise have to seek from disbursed sources. Once completed, KRIS projects belong to the public and can be easily updated. | ![]() |
