||North Fork Big River
||Temperature: Floating Weekly Average Chamberlain and Lower NF Big 1997
||Caption: The floating weekly average temperature of the North Fork Big River at the JDSF boundary exceeded 16.8 degrees C in 1997 as did lower Chamberlain Creek, although by a lesser amount. The headwaters of Chamberlain Creek remained well below this reference but the lower reaches were likely too warm for coho in 1997. None the less, Chamberlain Creek has a somewhat moderating influence on the North Fork Big River temperatures. The 16.8 degree C stress threshold for coho salmon was chosen based on Welsh et al. (2001). Click on Picture for a map of locations. Data provided by the Forest Science Project with the permission of Jackson Demonstration State Forest.
