KRIS Big River: Chart Page

The chart on this page can not be modified, as it can in the CD version of the KRIS database. Data can be downloaded (see bottom of page).

Area North Fork Big River
Topic Temperature: Floating Weekly Average Chamberlain and Lower NF Big 1997

Caption:  The floating weekly average temperature of the North Fork Big River at the JDSF boundary exceeded 16.8 degrees C in 1997 as did lower Chamberlain Creek, although by a lesser amount. The headwaters of Chamberlain Creek remained well below this reference but the lower reaches were likely too warm for coho in 1997. None the less, Chamberlain Creek has a somewhat moderating influence on the North Fork Big River temperatures. The 16.8 degree C stress threshold for coho salmon was chosen based on Welsh et al. (2001). Click on Picture for a map of locations. Data provided by the Forest Science Project with the permission of Jackson Demonstration State Forest.
