Caption:  The chart above shows the results of an August 2002 lower South Fork Garcia habitat typing survey as the type of canopy cover over the stream. Canopy is measured with a densiometer from the center of the stream. Only 1% of the stream lacked direct shade and almost 2/3 of the shade canopy was coniferous. Data collected by Elizabeth Earthman and Jennifer Presnell of the Americorp Stewards program under the direction of the California Department of Fish and Game.
