Area North Fork
Topic Habitat: Max Pool Depths NF Gualala Survey Comparison 1994 vs 2001

Caption:  The comparison of results between results of 1994 and 2001 habitat typing surveys in the North Fork Gualala, Little North Fork and Doty Creeks are compared on this chart. While Doty Creek has improved pool depth between 1994 and 2001, the Little North Fork shows moderate signs of filling. The North Fork shows the most significant change in terms of loss of fish habitat. There were 22 fewer pools deeper than four feet and six fewer between three and four feet. While comparison of some habitat typing results is not proper because of potential observer bias, maximum pool depth is a standard physical measurement and is comparable. Data collected in 1994 is by Entrix, Inc. and more recent data (2001) was collected by the California Department of Fish and Game.
