KRIS Humboldt Bay: Meta Information Page

This page contains detailed information about a data set in KRIS, including where the original data reside and how to contact the sources for the data. Data sets are linked to the appropriate page by means of the Meta Identifier. Many data sets can be linked to same page by sharing the same Meta Identifier.

Type of DataRoad data for all Humboldt Bay Calwater Planning Watersheds
OriginatorLegacy the Landscape Connection
DescriptionThis is road data assimilated and disseminated by Legacy the Landscape Connection in Arcata, California. Calculation of road densities, road crossings per Calwater Planning Watershed and road crossings per mile were calculated by Dr. Paul Trichilo of the IFR KRIS Project

PurposeRoad data are useful in watershed analysis for understanding risk of sediment pollution. Roads may also alter watershed hydrology including flood frequency and base flows.
Data Quality InformationLegacy compiled information from all available sources at a 1:24000 scale, but skid trails, temporary roads and spurs are not shown. Also, road-stream crossings are likely under-represented due to lack of detailed stream and road mapping.
Use ConstraintsNone
Supplemental InformationKRIS Background provide more information about road-related indices of watershed health.

TitleRoad Data for Humboldt Bay watershed
AbstractLegacy the Landscape Connection assimilated all data regarding roads in 2000 to create a regional coverage at a 1:24000 scale. Original data sources include USGS, the California Department of Forestry Timber Harvest Division in Santa Rosa and municipalities around Humboldt Bay. Dr. Paul Trichilo of the Institute for Fisheries Resources did calculation of summary statistics.
