Topic Fish: Willow Cr Downstream Migrant Trap Population Estimates 1996-01

Caption:  This chart shows the number of juvenile Chinook salmon and steelhead estimated to have outmigrated during the trapping season at the Willow Creek downstream migrant trap for the years 1996 and 1998-2001. Chinook numbers fluctuated between 5500 and 18500 before increasing dramatically to over 80000 in 2001. Weekly outmigration estimates are made by adding the number of fish caught to an estimated catch for days when trap was not operating, and then dividing by trap efficiency. Weekly outmigration estimates are then added together to produce an estimate for the trapping period. Steelhead outmigration estimates were only calculated in 1994, 2000, and 2001. No trapping was conducted in 1995. Data provided by the Six Rivers National Forest, Lower Trinity Ranger District. Click on Info Links for more information.
