Topic Temperature: Floating Weekly Average at Slate Creek 1997-2002

Caption:  This Chart shows the floating weekly average water temperatures at lower Slate Creek (site 45) for the years 1997-2002. Maximum floating weekly average water temperature (MWAT) exceeded 16.8°C in 4 of 6 years, indicating suitability for coho salmon in only some years (Welsh et al., 2001), but temperatures were still optimal for steelhead juvenile rearing. Temperature data come from automated water temperature data probes placed in the Klamath River and its tributaries by the Klamath National Forest and the Karuk Tribe.
