This photo shows a terrace adjacent to Indian Creek that was planted with conifers by the Happy Camp Ranger District Fisheries Department. Indian Creek runs through the deciduous trees at the far side of the photo. The conifers will help create a cool microclimate when mature and help buffer Indian Creek stream temperatures. Survival of the planted trees was very good. The area was re-claimed from an old log landing. Photo by Pat Higgins taken as part of the Mid-Program Evaluation of the Klamath Basin Fisheries Restoration Program (Kier Assoc., 1999). Click on Info Links for more information. September 1997.

This photo shows small conifers immediately adjacent to the hardwood canopy over Indian Creek and in the foreground. Trees were planted by Klamath National Forest staff to promote riparian restoration. The young conifers are thriving in the light gap and will eventually over-top the stream-side deciduous trees. Conifers were probably the dominant riparian tree originally. Photo by Pat Higgins taken as part of the Mid-Program Evaluation of the Klamath Basin Fisheries Restoration Program (Kier Assoc., 1999).
