Topic Temperature: Temp Max Eddy Gulch Bracket @ NF Salmon 2000

This chart shows the maximum daily water temperatures during the summer of 1997 in the NF Salmon River above, below and in Eddy Gulch. The mid-August temperature spike and data lapse in Eddy Gulch may be due to a faulty temperature sensor. Note that in the NF Salmon mid summer water temperatures reached the level stressful for Salmonids. Although the water in Eddy Gulch remained much cooler, it did not seem to have much of a cooling influence on the NF. This chart was derived from Chart Table SRMAX97-99.dbf, which in turn was derived from Source Table saeg97.dbf. Data were collected from automated temperature sensors called Hobotemps, which were anchored in flowing water in the shade. Hobotemps were monitored by community volunteers and paid staff of the Salmon River Restoration Council.

This chart shows the maximum daily water temperatures during the summer of 1998 in the NF Salmon River above, below and in Eddy Gulch. Note that in mid summer water temperatures became stressful for Salmonids in the NF Salmon but not in Eddy Gulch. Although the water in Eddy Gulch remained much cooler, it did not seem to have much of a cooling influence on the NF, which suggests Eddy Gulch may not be large enough to noticeably affect the temperature of the NF Salmon. Data were collected from automated temperature sensors called Hobotemps, which were anchored in flowing water in the shade. Hobotemps were monitored by community volunteers and paid staff of the Salmon River Restoration Council. This chart was derived from Chart Table EGMAX.dbf, which was filtered from Source Table SAL98.dbf.
