Topic Fish: Adult Steelhead at Shasta Racks 1930-96
Caption:  The chart above is based on data collected by the California Department of Fish and Game at the Shasta Racks from 1930 to 1996. The number of steelhead counted at the Shasta Racks cannot be taken as representative of the steelhead population size. The racks are operated mostly during the period of peak Chinook migration (September-November), while steelhead runs usually peak from December to April. In some years, however, the racks were kept in operation through January and even April. See Chart Table to compare annual steelhead counts at the racks to various periods of operation.
