Topic	Stream Channel: Percent Change in Channel Widths 1952-1992

 

Caption:  The chart reflects reach-wide average changes in the active channel width of the Navarro River and tributaries. Anderson Creek shows the greatest increase. Straight reaches in Middle and Lower Rancheria Creek have begun to recover in recent years, showing an overall decrease in channel width (negative numbers). Intensive logging from the late 1930s to 1950s coupled with large floods in 1955, 1964 and 1974 appears to have contributed to the aggradation and widening of streams in the Navarro Basin (Entrix et al., 1998).
