The photograph (from approximately 1993) above shows Allan Grass of the California Department of Fish and Game standing in front of a logjam at "site 1" on Soda Creek, a tributary to Elk Creek. This logjam was recommended to be modified in the following way: "Widen the existing opening. Pull back the debris exposed on the right and move it out of the floodplain." Photo is from the archives of E-Center/Mendocino Fisheries Program (formerly known as the Center For Education and Manpower Resources) of Ukiah, provided to KRIS by Joe Scriven. Photographer was likely William Kidd.

This logjam was recommended to be modified in the following way: "Clear the small debris out of the channel. Place the redwood log on the right, upstream on the left bank about 50 ft., between the redwoods." This logjam was recommended to be modified in the following way: "Remove the plug of small debris from the channel. Cable the large identified redwood log upstream to two rocks (upper rock on the right near the log's present position, lower rock downstream on the left."
