KRIS Russian River: Chart Page

Area Guerneville
Topic Habitat: Maximum Pool Depths in Dutch Bill Cr and Tribs 1997

Caption:  This chart shows the maximum depth of pools measured during California Department of Fish and Game habitat typing surveys in Dutch Bill Creek and its tributaries in 1997. Streams in the chart are sorted by Strahler order (with larger streams at the top), and reaches are numbered upstream beginning at stream mouths. Pools were relatively shallow, with few pools over 3 feet deep outside of the mainstem of Dutch Bill Creek. The percent of pools greater than 3 feet deep was low in Dutch Bill Creek, considering that it is a third order stream. Pools deeper than three feet are preferred habitat for juvenile coho and older age steelhead. See InfoLinks for more information.
