Caption:  This chart shows percent fines <5.6 mm in Willow Creek pool-tail gravels in 2000. Sampled pool-tails were located in Mendocino Redwood Company's (MRC) long-term monitoring segment SW1. All of the four pool-tails bulk samples exceeded the salmonid survival reference of 26% fines less than 6.5 mm. The reference value of 26% was adjusted from the EPA Gualala TMDL <6.5 mm target of 30% using methods of Shirazi and Seim (1979). Samples were collected and analyzed by MRC in 2000. MRC used dry-sieve analysis methods to determine size distribution. See InfoLinks for more information.
