KRIS Russian River: Chart Page

Area Guerneville
Topic Fish: Estuary Beach Trawl Sample Totals 1998

Caption:  This Chart shows the various species caught in the Russian River estuary using an otter trawl net at four sites from August to November 1998. Prickly sculpin comprised 77 percent of the entire catch by otter trawl and were abundant at each station, as were they in previous years (MSC 1997, 1998). All species comprising more than 1% of the catch are common estuarine species in this region, except the Navarro roach, which lives strictly in freshwater. Trawl catches of Navarro roach only occurred at Station 4, the most upriver station where half the sample covers a shallow area with fresh water (MSC, 1999).
