KRIS Russian River: Meta Information Page

This page contains detailed information about a data set in KRIS, including where the original data reside and how to contact the sources for the data. Data sets are linked to the appropriate page by means of the Meta Identifier. Many data sets can be linked to same page by sharing the same Meta Identifier.

Meta IdentifierSR_bugs
Type of DataMacroinvertebrate/Bioassessment
OriginatorCity of Santa Rosa
DescriptionAquatic insects were collected from Santa Rosa Creek by the Sustainable Land Stewardship Institute under contract to the City of Santa Rosa. Samples were taken using a kick net in keeping with the California RAPID Bioassessment protocols (CDFG, 1998) and the Russian River Index of Biological Integrity (Harrington, 1999). Metrics calculated are EPT, Richness, Percent Dominance, Simpson and Hilsenhoff Diversity Indices.

Data Set Namebug_sr_creek_metrics_xtab_00_02.dbf
PurposeThe purpose of the data collection was to assess the relative health of Santa Rosa Creek and its tributaries and for possible use as baseline to monitor water quality trends.
Data Quality InformationData quality is high.
Use ConstraintsBiological samples represent only one location in each stream, so streams may have other reaches of varying health. RAPID Bioassessment methods use sub-sampling techniques.

TitleBiological and Physical/Habitat Assessment of Selected Sites Within the Santa Rosa Watershed
AbstractThis report was assembled to: 1) Provide base line information on the macroinvertebrate assemblages within the Santa Rosa watershed; 2) Evaluate the biological and physical/habitat condition at six sampling sites located on Matanzas, Colgan, Piner, Paulin, Brush and Peterson Creeks using the Russian River IBI. 3) Provide recommendations and strategies for continued monitoring.
