This photo shows luxury homes built in or adjacent to the riparian zone of Mark West Creek. The vegetation immediately behind the gray house is the riparian of Mark West Creek. A good part of this development is that they are leaving grassy areas, which reduces total impervious area and maintains more natural runoff patterns. Homes immediately adjacent to streams may have a large impact on water quality if they use backyard pesticides, such as diazinon. Photo by Patrick Higgins. July 14, 2003.
