Little Sulphur Creek is shown here at the same location as Picture #1 but from under the bridge. Emergent semi-aquatic grasses help provide cover for juvenile steelhead which inhabit this reach (See Picture #1). Photo by Patrick Higgins taken on July 15, 2003.

This zoom in on the channel of Little Sulphur Creek from above shows coarse substrate at the pool tail crest, suitable for steelhead spawning, and good cover from willow and wetland grasses. Photo by Patrick Higgins taken on July 15, 2003.

The even age of the smaller alders suggests recolonization after a large storm event. This photo was taken looking upstream just above Geysers Road at the same location as Picture #4. Photo by Patrick Higgins taken on July 15, 2003.

While Little Sulphur Creek had some excellent salmonid habitat features, this closeup of the bottom in the shallow pool under the Geysers Road suggests that quite a bit of fine sediment may be transported during high flows. Photo by Patrick Higgins taken on July 15, 2003.
