Topic Fish: Trap Caught Juvenile Salmonids - Santa Rosa Creek 1993-1995

Caption:  This chart displays the average daily number of juvenile salmonids captured for months during which a fyke net trap was operated in Santa Rosa Creek. The period spans two winter/spring periods that show very similar patterns in the rate of outmigration by steelhead. Steelhead were captured in every month that trapping occurred, a single coho was captured in February of each year, and five Chinook were captured in May of 1995. Traps were operated for at least 17 days in all but the following months: 1993/10 (3 days), 1993/11 (7 days), 1994/05 (1 day). Trap status information in the Source Table also indicates variation in trap efficiency. The data demonstrate downstream migration of steelhead juveniles in all months monitored (October-May). Data were collected by Merritt Smith Consulting for the City of Santa Rosa. See InfoLinks for more information. Click on Map for location of trap sites.
