KRIS Russian River: Chart Page

Area Ukiah
Topic Habitat: Maximum Pool Depths in West Ukiah Tribs 1995-2001

Caption:  This chart shows the maximum depth of pools measured during California Department of Fish and Game habitat typing surveys in western streams in the Ukiah sub-basin in 1995, 1998, 1999, and 2001. Streams in the chart are sorted by Strahler order (with larger streams at the top), and reaches are numbered upstream beginning at stream mouths. Robinson Creek contained exceptionally shallow pools for a fifth order stream, with not a single pool over 3 feet deep. Pools were also relatively shallow in the other creeks, with many pools less than 3 feet deep. Pools deeper than three feet are preferred habitat for juvenile coho and older age steelhead. See InfoLinks for more information.
