Topic Temperature: Floating Weekly Max nr Trout/Sheepscot Confluence 2001

Caption:  This chart shows 2001 floating weekly maximum temperatures in the lower Sheepscot River and Trout Brook near the Trout Brook/Sheepscot River confluence. The Sheepscot River temperature monitoring site at river kilometer (RKm) 8.59 is located above the confluence while monitoring site RKm 8.53 is located just downstream of the confluence. Warm water temperatures at the mouth of Trout Brook influence the temperature measurements of the Sheepscot at the confluence. Floating weekly maximum temperatures in both streams exceed 22.5°C for extended periods during June through August. Elliott (1991) found that juvenile Atlantic Salmon stop feeding when temperatures exceed this level. Temperature data are from the Maine Atlantic Salmon Commission.
