Stream Channel: Width/Depth Ratio at Main Battle WA Sites 2001-2002 |

    |
Caption:  The width to depth ratio of the channel was measured at 4 lower mainstem Battle Creek Watershed Assessment sites to assist in determining the Rosgen channel type (no measurement at #004). Width to depth ratios can be an indicator of sediment over-supply. All sites in lower Battle Creek are classified as "response" (light blue) reaches and would be subject to aggradation and channel adjustment if sediment in the watershed is over-supplied. Other parameters used for channel typing are entrenchment, sinuosity and slope. Abbreviations are ds = downstream and ab = above. Data from Terraqua (2004). See Info Links for more information.
