Area North Fork Battle
Topic Stream Channel: Width/Depth Ratio at Bailey Creek Battle WA Sites

Caption:  The width to depth ratio of the channel of Bailey Creek was measured at 6 sites as part of the Battle Creek Watershed Assessment to assist in determining the Rosgen channel type. Width to depth ratios can be an indicator of sediment over-supply, which can make "response" (light blue) reaches shallower and wider. Some "transport" (dark blue) channel reaches may be confined in bedrock or otherwise incapable of adjustment. Other parameters used for channel typing are entrenchment, sinuosity and slope. Abbreviations are ds = downstream and ab = above. Data are from Terraqua. See Info Links for more information.
