KRIS Mattole River: Chart Page

Area Basin-wide/Regional
Topic Amphibs: Sensitive Species and Vegetation with Photo Tour

Caption:  The Chart above shows the capture numbers of three species of amphibians over three types of vegetative terrain. The tailed frog and torrent salamander are abundant in late seral forests (LateSeral), greatly diminished in second growth forest habitats (SecondGro), and not found in mixed forest/grassland ecosystems (GrassMix). The black salamander finds optimal habitat in streams of late seral forests but is still found at lower levels in other forest types. Click on InfoLinks for more information.
